Open Beach SAMBO Tournament Held in Budapest
On August 4, the Open Beach SAMBO Tournament "Duró Memorial" was held in Budapest on the banks of the Danube. The competition was dedicated to the memory of sambist Duró István, who died tragically. He was one of the first Hungarian athletes to compete in international Beach SAMBO tournaments.
"We decided to honor the memory of our athlete Duró István and invited representatives from different countries to participate. Working on promoting our sport in Central Europe, we want to bring together national SAMBO federations in the region so that they can develop together," said Imre Papp, president of the Hungarian SAMBO Federation.

According to him, in addition to Hungarian sambists, athletes from Slovakia and representatives of several countries who live and train in Hungary took part in the tournament.

"This tournament was planned as a preparatory competition for the teams that will participate in the World Beach SAMBO Championships in September. However, not all the federations to whom we sent information responded to our invitation. Our goal was to hold a large-scale tournament and we hope that we will be able to achieve this goal in the future," added the head of Hungarian SAMBO.
