Hungarian SAMBO Championships Held in Budapest
The Hungarian SAMBO Federation organized the National SAMBO Championships on December 8 in Budapest. Both experienced athletes and absolute debutants of SAMBO tournaments took part in the competitions.
“The national championships gave our athletes the opportunity to assess their current level of training. I would especially like to mention those who took part in the competitions for the first time. For an amateur athlete, this is an important step – to leave the comfort zone in the gym. I am glad that the level of competition has increased significantly in certain weight categories. This shows that our efforts to develop SAMBO are yielding results,” said Imre Papp, President of the Hungarian SAMBO Federation.

Earlier this year, the organization already held several events: competitions as part of the “Let's Relax Together in a Sporty Way” festival, as well as the Open Beach SAMBO Tournament, which took place on the banks of the Danube ahead of the World Beach SAMBO Championships.

The head of Hungarian SAMBO noted that the national federation plans to organize as many regional and international competitions as possible. In his opinion, this will help popularize SAMBO in the region and give athletes the opportunity to gain competitive experience.
