FIAS Delegation Presents International Military SAMBO Tournament at CISM General Assembly

A delegation of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS) took part in the General Assembly of the International Military Sports Council (CISM). FIAS was represented by FIAS CEO - FIAS Acting Secretary General Alexander Korsik and FIAS President's Legal Advisor Artur Melikyan.

On the sidelines of the Assembly, the FIAS delegation held a series of meetings with CISM leadership and engaged in substantive discussions on the further development of cooperation between the two organizations. The talks addressed key areas of collaboration, including the integration of SAMBO into the international military sports calendar and the strengthening of ties between national SAMBO federations and their respective CISM representatives.

The central focus of the FIAS delegation's work at the Assembly was the promotion of the International Military SAMBO Tournament, scheduled to take place in August at the International SAMBO Center in Luzhniki, Moscow. Alexander Korsik delivered presentations at the continental meetings held within the framework of the General Assembly, outlining the tournament's format, objectives, and participation procedures. Discussions with representatives of the continental blocs covered the organizational aspects of the event and the conditions for national teams' involvement.

“The CISM General Assembly is an important platform for advancing SAMBO within the military sports community. Our goal is to ensure the broadest possible representation of countries at the International Military SAMBO Tournament in Moscow. The talks with CISM leadership and continental representatives were constructive, and I am confident that this tournament will bring together a strong and diverse field of competitors,” said Alexander Korsik.

He also noted that FIAS encourages national SAMBO federations to reach out to their countries' CISM military representatives and support their athletes' participation in the International Military SAMBO Tournament.
