Important notice for team representatives: equipment requirements at the Registration Commission

The International SAMBO Federation (FIAS) draws the attention of team leaders participating in the World Beach SAMBO Championships (Caraguatatuba, Brazil, 12-13 September), the World SAMBO Cup (Dushanbe, Tajikistan, 19-20 September), the World Cadet, Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships (Thessaloniki, Greece, 2-4 October) and the World SAMBO Championships (Tashkent, Uzbekistan, 6-8 November) to a new requirement for passing the Registration Commission.

What has changed

Following a decision by the FIAS Technical Commission, when passing the Registration Commission, team representatives must present all participants' jackets (red and blue) with a back patch in accordance with FIAS Regulations regarding size, font and content. The patch must display the athlete's three-letter country code and surname.

Athletes without a jacket meeting this standard will not be permitted to compete.

Which events this applies to

The rule takes effect from the 2026 World Beach SAMBO Championships in Brazil and will apply to all subsequent official FIAS competitions: World Cups, the World Cadet, Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships, and World Championships.

What teams need to do

Team leaders should confirm in advance that all participants' jackets – both red and blue – meet the requirements set out in the FIAS Regulations and carry the back patch. Doing so ahead of time will help avoid delays or issues when passing the Registration Commission at the competition venue.

For the latest regulations and equipment requirements, please refer to the “Documents” section of the FIAS website: DOCUMENTS.
